Movie Night: “Elective Affinities”

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Goethe in Atlanta, join us for a selection of cultural programs focusing on the life of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe including Siegfried Kühns “Elective Affinities” with introductory remarks from Dr. Peter Höyng, Associate Professor of Germanic Studies at Emory University.

About the film:

“Elective Affinities” is a 1974 East German drama film directed by Siegfried Kühn. It follows the dynamics which follow when a couple invite two other people. The film is based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s novel Elective Affinities.

The film will be shown in German with English subtitles. Approximate length: 102 minutes.

The film starts at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm with a wine and cheese reception.
