Moving Beyond Awareness: Building an Action Campaign to End Human Trafficking

October 9, 2019 at 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

University communities understand the responsibility and value of social responsibility. Human Trafficking is a human rights violation that calls us to seek justice by social change. The International Human Trafficking Institute & CIFAL Atlanta are offering a free ADVOCATE WORKSHOP that will provide attendees with an overview of:

• Definitions labor and sexual exploitation
• Social conditions that facilitate the exploitation of persons
• Steps to address these conditions
• Guidance on how to build a collective action campaign within your community that focuses on the solution

Attendees will leave with a written plan to implement their campaign. Four weeks following the workshop, the group will reconvene virtually to discuss their progress and advice on how to proceed going forward. Attendees are asked to be prepared to stay for the entire workshop.

A minimum of 2-3 people from each student group, resident hall, degree cohort, faculty department and college must attend together. Registration and lunch is FREE, but you must apply as space is limited.

Workshop facilitator: Deborah Richardson, Executive Director, International Human Trafficking Institute

All faculty, degree cohorts, resident halls, student groups & colleges, campus wide, are welcome!
