A Dusseldorf, Germany-based manufacturer of precision machine tools is to open its first production facility and headquarters in the U.S. in Hart County this spring.

SD Automotive Group, which will produce machine tools for manufacturers of automotive parts and other companies, will employ about 25 people when the 50,000-square-foot facility is fully operational.

An important reason the company selected the Hart County Industrial Park, located on U.S. Highway 29, for its facility was easy access to automotive manufacturers.

Just off of Interstate 85, the plant is located on one of the fastest growing business corridors, Jim Blair, international project manager for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, told GlobalAtlanta.

Mr. Blair said that Hart County was an ideal location for the facility with BMW Manufacturing Co.‘s plant to the north in South Carolina and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia Inc. and Honda Precision Parts of Georgia LLC facilities to the south.

SD Automotive is one of many German companies with operations in Georgia, including transformer manufacturer Ritz Instrument Transformers Inc., in Hart County and plastics manufacturer MöllerTech in Elberton.
