Inform, a German software developer, is to open the North American headquarters of its aviation division in Atlanta on Oct. 26.

A company spokesperson told GlobalAtlanta that the primary purpose of the office at 1447 Peachtree St. is to support the marketing of the company’s GroundStar software, which provides numerous applications for the support of ground handling operations at airports.

The office is to provide a meeting point for representatives of American clients and the company’s German employees who will be visiting the United States. Two employees will be assigned to the office, but others will be added as its business expands, the spokesperson said.

GroundStar software management systems are used in more than 20 airports in Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

The company employs 350 software engineers and consultants at its headquarters in Aachen and Frankfurt, Germany, and field offices in Europe, Asia and North America.

It develops business-processing software in transport management, banking and insurance and in material and goods handling.

Included among its customers are airlines, airports and ground handling companies, hospitals and clinics, sea and inland ports, pharmaceuticals, car manufacturers, wholesalers, storage and handling centers and transportation companies.

The company is privately held and in 2009 its revenues amounted to $51.1 million, according to the company’s website, which may be found at www.inform-software.com
