Home Depot Inc. has named Aaron Carmack president of its Canada operations.

Mr. Carmack is currently regional vice president of the Atlanta-based home improvement giant’s Pac North division in the U.S. He will replace Annette Verschuren, who has been president of Home Depot Canada for nearly 15 years.

Ms. Verschuren will remain in her position until the end of the 2011 fiscal year on June 30. She is leaving the company on good terms.

“These past 15 years have been the best of my career,” Ms. Verschuren said in a news release. “However, I am ready to take some time off and then plan the next chapter of my life.”

When she took the helm of Home Depot Canada the division had 19 stores. With 179 stores across 10 Canadian provinces Home Depot is now the largest home improvement retailer in the country, employing 28,000 people there.

Mr. Carmack joined Home Depot in late 2003 and became regional vice president in March 2007. He currently oversees more than 100 stores in northern California, Nevada and Utah.
