The IONIQ 5 XRT model is for those who want to go off-road in electric style.

The first Hyundai electric vehicle model range to be built in Georgia will come with an updated charging standard and a new off-road variant.

The Korean auto maker revealed that the 2025 model year of its hit IONIQ 5 hatchback will be the first to roll of the new assembly lines at the Hyundai Motors America Metaplant near Savannah

Hyundai had already announced the IONIQ 5 as the debut model in Georgia in June, but the new variants had not been unveiled.

The new IONIQ5 XRT variant offers higher ground clearance, suspension tuning and wider approach and departure angles and is designed for those who want to “play in the dirt,” the company said.

Exclusive flourishes included a camouflage bumper with Hyundai’s pixelated design, larger black rims with all-terrain tires, black trim elements, exclusive colors and more.

The XRT, which comes in a dual-motor, all-wheel drive configuration, is expected to sit between the longer-range standard IONIQ 5 and the high-performance IONIQ 5 N variant.

The 2025 models will also offer the new North American Charging Standard, which will allow them to be charged at Tesla’s 17,000-strong supercharger network.

The higher-end rear-wheel-drive model IONIQ 5 models will have a range of more than 310 miles.

Crucially, the U.S.-built model will qualify for an immediate $3,750 federal tax credit, which represents half of a total possible incentive of $7,500. Presumably, eligibility for the second half will come when Hyundai ramps up domestic battery production with its partner, LG Chem, on the Metaplant site.
