The acquisition of the engineering services division of Braselton-based Atlantic Engineering Group by Acaco, an engineering solutions company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, is the Irish company’s first foray into the United States.
Atlantic Engineering Services (AES) specializes in telecommunications services primarily within the fibre-to-the-home/business sector, and has operations in Georgia, Texas, Missouri and Colorado. A spokesman for Actavo said: “There are no plans for a move from Braselton and it is business as usual for AES.”

AES has been the lead engineer in 100-plus fiber optic projects in 22 states and nine foreign countries. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to a March 21 news release, Actavo has operations in more than 100 locations internationally with a global workforce of 5,000 delivering network, in-home, industrial, hire and sales, building and event solutions.
The release also says that by acquiring AES Actavo is to enhance the company’s services to its existing client base in Ireland, the U.K., the Caribbean and Kazakhstan.
It also is to enable Actavo to establish a presence in strategic U.S. markets for the fibre-to-the-home services, where a massive investment program is underway. The release notes forecasts that by September 2019, the number of homes connected to the fibre-to-home services is to double to 24 million.
James H. Salter, president of the Atlantic Engineering Group, said in the statement that “This is an exciting transformative development for us. Being acquired by Actavo, an international company takes our business to a new level in terms of global connectivity, exposure to new business prospects and growth potential.”
Located on the I-85 corridor, Braselton has grown in recent years to have more than 7,500 residents and its industrial parks include many companies such as Mayfield Dairy, Panoz Auto Development Co., Mizuno, Hitachi, Dayton Superior, SafeLite, Whole Foods, Carter’s, Year One and Haverty’s Furniture’s Southeast Distribution Center.
