Mercedes-Benz Vans USA included Atlanta International School in a campaign to donate its eSprinter vans to nonprofits making a difference in their communities.
AIS received the van during a 12-days of Christmas celebration where brand ambassadors delivered the vehicles to their favorite organizations.
The school’s operations team will use the all-electric van, which has a range of up to 206 miles, as they provide security and maintenance services.
“Caring for our campus also means caring for the environment around it,” said Avery Nesbitt, director of operations at Atlanta International School, said in a release. “Our operations team takes great pride in their work, and this vehicle reflects how we’re moving forward—being intentional about sustainability while staying focused on what matters most: supporting our students, faculty, and community.”
The initiate was part of a broader “Holidays with Love” campaign undertaken by Mercedes-Benz USA, which has its headquarters in Sandy Springs and recently committed to putting a new innovation center in West Midtown. Sprinters are also made in the South — their primary U.S. factory is near Charleston, South Carolina, with the electric version made there and in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The German automaker’s affinity for its adoptive hometown — and the entwinement with its professional sports teams — was evident in the organizations receiving new eSprinters.
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins and running back Bijan Robinson delivered to City of Refuge and Atlanta Public Schools, respectively, while Matt Ryan, former Falcons quarterback and newly hired president of football operations, picked Raising Expectations Inc. Former Atlanta United goalkeeper Brad Guzan picked Northside Youth Organization, which operates travel sports teams. (The Falcons and Atlanta United play in Mercedes-Benz Stadium). Atlanta entertainer Chris “Ludacris” Bridges oversaw a donation to The Ludacris Foundation, based in East Point.
Atlanta International School is partnered with Atlanta United, providing flexible curriculum to the team’s academy athletes through the AISx innovation program.
