The national convention of the American Translators Association (ATA) will be held in Atlanta during the fall of 2002, Tom West, president of the locally based Intermark Language Services and a member of the ATA board, told GlobalFax last week.

Atlanta has a lot of translators and this will be good for them because of all the continuing education opportunities that will be available, he said during a telephone interview.

The Atlanta Association of Interpreters and Translators (AAIT), which has some 125 members, joined the national association last year.

The 39th annual ATA conference was held Nov. 4-7 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Hilton Head, S. C.  ATA has some 7,000 members representing all 50 U.S. states and 53 foreign countries.
