India’s new consul general to the Southeast U.S. has officially taken up his post in Atlanta, the consulate has announced.
Nagesh Singh was announced in March as the successor to Ajit Kumar, who left in February to take up a new position at the United Nations in Geneva.
Having joined the foreign service in 1995, Mr. Singh previously served in Delhi as special assistant to the vice president, director for Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran at the Ministry of External Affairs and counselor at the permanent mission of India to the U.N. in New York. He also served in embassy posts in Paris and Dakar, Senegal.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Delhi, followed by a master’s in the same field at the Delhi School of Economics.
He is married to Pragya Singh, and they have a son and daughter.
