Pest control company Orkin Inc., a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Rollins Inc., has established a Jamaican franchise. The location is Orkin’s 14th internationally and first in the Caribbean nation.

“Tropical climates and the related pest pressures create an increased need for quality pest control services,” said Tom Luczynski, vice president of international development and franchising. “We are pleased to increase our growing international presence and meet the pest control needs of customers in Jamaica.”

This franchise will provide pest control and termite protection for both homes and businesses throughout the entire island, an area slightly smaller than Connecticut.

Jamaican businessman Kenneth Benjamin owns the Orkin franchise through his company, Guardsman Services Ltd. He plans to send his employees to Orkin’s Atlanta training center.

Coursework at Orkin’s center is accredited by Purdue University. The center includes mock-ups of real world commercial environments, including a hotel room, restaurant kitchen and food warehouse to provide trainees with hands-on experience.
