Last week Gov. Sonny Perdue made his second goodwill mission in less than a month to promote Atlanta’s bid to become the secretariat for the Free Trade Area of the Americas, this time to Argentina, Brazil and Chile.

According to a statement from the governor’s office, Mr. Perdue traveled to South America to meet with presidents, ministers of trade and foreign affairs, ambassadors, business leaders and FTAA lead negotiators.

Atlanta, which submitted its bid in March, is in stiff competition with Miami and Panama City for the secretariat.
