Leszek Balcerowicz, the deputy prime minister and the finance minister of Poland, is to speak at the conference of the Polish-American Chamber of Commerce of the Southeast U.S. (PACC), to be held in Atlanta on Wednesday, Sept. 29.
Dr. Balcerowicz is widely known as the architect of the “Balcerowicz Plan,” which called for the transformation of the Polish economy. As an official in the governments of Prime Ministers Tadeusz Mazowiecki and Krzysztof Bielecki, he also was instrumental in implementing the plan.
Born in 1947, Dr. Balcerowicz received MBA and Ph.D. degrees from St. John’s University in New York in the mid-1970s. He has been an advisor to the governments of Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria.
