Atlanta will soon be home to one of two national parts distribution centers for Porsche Cars North America, the company announced last week.

Beginning in June, Porsche parts will be shipped from Atlanta to anywhere east of the Mississippi River, said Martin Peters, media relations manager for Porsche.

The company plans to outsource its packaging and shipping of parts.

“We chose Atlanta because of its proximity to highways and airports,” said Mr. Peters.

The company has not yet settled on a site for its Atlanta center or a port of entry from overseas.

The move of the distribution center from Reno, Nev., to Atlanta and Ontario, Calif., will allow Porsche to make same day or next day deliveries anywhere in the U.S. and the Atlanta center will reduce costs in shipping from Europe, Mr. Peters added.
