Proceeds from a local British event celebrating Queen Elizabeth II‘s 60-year reign will go toward Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed‘s youth scholarship programs.

More than $10,000 was raised at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Family Festival in June, a celebratory event at Oglethorpe College that included a millinery (hat) competition, cricket match and afternoon tea.

The entry fee for the event, hosted by the U.K. Consulate General in Atlanta, was $10 per vehicle. More than 2,000 British expatriates and England enthusiasts attended.

The funds will be presented to the city of Atlanta at the British American Business Group‘s annual gala July 28. This year’s gala is themed “Diamonds Are Forever” and will celebrate the queen’s milestone as well as the organization’s 30-year anniversary.
