Rumbidzai Mufuka for GlobalAtlanta
John Lee, an active member of the Atlanta-Daegu Sister City Committee, told GlobalAtlanta that a new exchange program between Young Jin Technical College in Daegu, South Korea, and Atlanta Technical College will strengthen the 25-year-old Sister City relationship.

According to Mr. Lee, the student and faculty exchange is part of Daegu’s long-term plan to build the infrastructure needed to attract more biotechnology and nanotechnology companies to South Korea.

As part of that effort, a delegation from Daegu is expected to attend the Sister City Conference in Atlanta Oct. 19-20. Mayor Shirley Franklin has also scheduled a trade mission to Daegu in February 2007.

At the Atlanta conference, Sang Yung Lee, a member of the Daegu Metropolitan City Development Center, will present an update on the Sister City relationship and areas for development.

Mr. Lee said the Daegu administration hopes to attend more conventions and conferences and share best practice techniques regarding tourism, water, sewer and city management.
