SITA, the Geneva, Switzerland-based global information technology company, announced on Aug. 17 that its airline passenger check-in and board processes have been certified by the International Air Transport Association.
The North American headquarters of the company is located in Atlanta.
According to a SITA press release, the company is the first platform provider to receive the compliance certification from the association and to successfully complete its “common use passenger processing system.”
SITA delivers and manages business solutions for airline, airport, government and other customers providing a communications backbone for the global air transport industry.
The company launched its pilot program at the Orlando International Airport with check-in and boarding of WestJet and Continental Airlines Inc. passengers.
The release says that the new technology enables airlines to use one application for common-use installations such as kiosks for a cost savings.
