Alain Mulder

Atlanta-based communications consultancy Speakeasy Inc. has added a new director of business development in its Netherlands office.

Alain Mulder joins the firm from Totaal, a company he founded in 2010 to manage apartments and condominium associations.

Speakeasy, which runs personal-growth programs and classes that train executives to communicate better, has five offices in the U.S. along with an expansive global presence including outposts in Mumbai, Hong Kong and Amsterdam.

His familiarity with the Amsterdam area and the European business culture were among Mr. Mulder’s principal assets as the firm aims to extend its reach in the region. In addition to running his own small business, he has had experience at the intersection of technology and sales and marketing in a variety of settings. The company is looking to him to make inroads with European clients.

Mr. Mulder lives in Oegstgeest, a city southwest of Amsterdam, with his wife and 4-year-old daughter, according to a Speakeasy news release.

The move is the latest foray into global markets for Speakeasy, which recently launched programs in Dubai and unveiled online training capabilities.

Speakeasy has worked with many Fortune 100 firms including Coca-Cola Co. and Microsoft Corp.
