Peachtree City-based Sigvaris North America, a global manufacturer and distributor of medical compression garments, celebrated the 150-year anniversary of its parent company this summer with events in Atlanta and Montreal.

Sigvaris North America is part of the Sigvaris Group, which began in 1864 in Switzerland and now distributes in more than 60 countries.

The event in Canada was held at the Montreal Science Centre on July 12, a week before a similar celebration took place at The Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta on July 19.

Both occasions showcased the company’s long history in the manufacturing industry with an exhibition and interpretive dance. A video in the background of the performance took guests through the production process.

“People got to see a little bit about our company history and how products are currently made,” Melissa Gwozdz, public relations and brand identity agent for Sigvaris North America, told Global Atlanta.

Among fellow Sigvaris employees who attended the event at the Westin were representatives from the company’s dealers who carry Sigvaris products, doctors as well as Sigvaris North America President and CEO Scot Dubé, Ms. Gwozdz added.

“Forward thinking and forward moving has been a big part of our philosophy over the last 150 years, and we are taking steps to continue to improve leg health for future generations,” Mr. Dubé said in a press release.

About 90 percent of Sigvaris products sold in North America are manufactured at its Peachtree City plant.

Ms. Gwozdz said the company is exploring new channels in its North American market as it now offers fashion-conscious compression leggings for women which are available at Nordstrom department stores.
