Stadler landed its first metro contract in the U.S. with MARTA in 2019, a deal valued at more than $600 million. While those cars are made in Utah, Atlanta has more recently won the company's signaling headquarters.

With MARTA’s new rail cars set to be unveiled soon, the Swiss company behind them is building out its presence in Atlanta

While the trains steal the attention, and despite Atlanta missing out on the U.S. factory that manufactures them (it’s in Utah), Stadler last year decided to deepen its presence in the city in a different way.

The Swiss firm won the signaling contract with MARTA in late 2024 and followed that up with an office opening in Atlanta last June.

Stadler Signaling picked Uptown Atlanta, the newly rebranded (and remodeled) transit-oriented development around Lindbergh Station where MARTA keeps its headquarters.

That proximity to the customer was important, but the “strategic hub” also includes lab and testing space, as well as amenities designed to attract a modern workforce, along with room to grow as more customers come onboard.

“This new signaling office in Atlanta will allow us to further innovate and enhance our cutting-edge signaling technology for our clients right here and in general in the U.S. market,” Lucy Andre, Stadler Signaling CEO, said in a release last June.

The fact that more than 50 Swiss companies call Georgia home played into the decision to set up shop here, the company said.
