Syrian Ambassador to the U.S. Imad Moustafa will speak in Atlanta on Tuesday, Dec. 16 about his country’s indirect peace talks with Israel through Turkish officials.

He’ll join David Cuthell, executive director of Georgetown University’s Institute of Turkish Studies, for a panel discussion on forging peace between the three Middle Eastern countries.

The discussion will specifically focus on the long enmity between Israel and Syria and Turkey’s new role as a mediator in the region.

The event is the first of a two-part series hosted by the Istanbul Center in Atlanta on the topic.

It is open to the public and costs $20 per person including a light lunch.  To RSVP, contact the Istanbul Center’s Cassandra Whitehead by Dec. 12 at kwhitehead@istanbulcenter.org, or call her at (678) 990-1717.
