Toyota has announced that it will begin exporting Venzas manufactured in Kentucky to Russia and Ukraine out of the Port of Brunswick.
About 5,000 of the four-door hatchback cars will be exported to the Eastern European markets after production begins in April, adding to the 124,000 U.S.-made vehicles the company sold overseas in 2012.
Brunswick is the third largest port in the nation for roll-on/roll-off trade, which mostly consists of vehicles and machinery units. The port handled a record 612,489 units in 2012, up from 497,404 in the previous year.
Toyota’s Georgetown, Ky., plant is a $6 billion investment employing 6,600 people, making it the company’s largest factory outside Japan.
