Space is available for two more Georgia companies in the Georgia Pavilion at the U.S. Food Export Showcase 2005 to be held May 1-3 in Chicago, J. Gregory Higgins-Yali, told GlobalAtlanta last week.

Traditionally the show is one of the largest food exhibitions in the United States and a good opportunity for companies to highlight their supermarket- and retailer-ready products, he added.

“The pavilion, which has room for 10 companies, is located at the front entrance and in the first aisle right next to the International Trade Center,” he said.

According to Mr. Higgins, commercial representatives from U.S. embassies around the world will be introducing international buyers at the pavilion.

The department also is organizing other international food promotions including the introduction of Georgia products in South Africa in mid-May through an arrangement with Mugg & Bean Pty. Ltd., one of the largest restaurant chains in the country with 54 outlets that was founded in 1996. In addition, it is launching a campaign in Japan to increase awareness and consumption of pecans by participating in the International Ingredient Show in Tokyo April 26-28. The department also is to lead a trade mission March 14-18 to Korea including nine companies from Georgia for the Food and Hotel Korea 2005 exhibit.
