The U.S. State Department is accepting proposals from companies that would like to be included in a commemorative duffel bag to be given to African government officials who will be attending the first U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington Aug. 5-6.

Proposals are to be sent to Jessica Nickasio at NicasioJM@state.gov by May 30. Proposals should include a description of the product to be contributed, the quantity that may provided and short background information on the submitting company.

Contributions must meet the following criteria: Made in America; small, sealed and not containing any fluids; provided in a quantity between 200 and 2,000 and shipped to Washington by June 30.

According to a departmental memo, a small number of products will be chosen for inclusion. The department will not be able to providing funding to assist with shipping. However, all gift donations may be tax-deductible.

The White House has announced that President Obama is to welcome the foreign government officials and leaders from across the continent to further strengthen ties with the region.
