Vanderlande Industries, the Dutch provider of conveyance systems and logistics process automation, has opened a new headquarters in Marietta that was two decades and nearly $60 million in the making.
The company announced last August that it would relocate to a new building in Cobb County, where it has operated for more than two decades.
At the time, Vanderlande also committed to hiring 500 employees and opening a 152,600-square-foot facility, the first phase of a 27-acre campus that will also include a new innovation center.
“For more than 23 years we’ve called Cobb County the headquarters of our North American business, which includes our significant engineering, research and development, manufacturing and corporate operations,” said Nick Porter, president of Airports and Parcel Solutions for North America at Vanderlande. “The incredible team we have assembled has played an important role in our dramatic growth in North America and the many transformative innovations introduced to the industries and customers we serve.”
The new campus serves about 1,000 employees who can now enjoy walking trails and green space along with a fitness center and a full-service cafeteria. Built with sustainability in mind, the new building is Leed GOLD certified, including a solar panel array offsetting 25 percent of energy needs, rainwater capture for irrigation and plumbing, efficient HVAC systems and electric-vehicle charging stations. At the time of its announcement, Vanderlande had 1,250 employees in Georgia.
Within the new space, Vanderlande has opened a temporary innovation center where customers will be able to see automation and software in action. A new, larger innovation space is being constructed now, helping facilitate continued work with Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State University and the University of Georgia. Also set to be built later are a parking deck and another office building. The new campus is located at 3054 Chastain Meadows Parkway NW in Marietta.
