A subsidiary of the Atlanta-based Wendy’s/Arby’s Group Inc. announced an agreement on Jan. 27 to open 50 Wendy’s restaurants in Argentina over the next 10 years.

Wendy’s/Arby’s International Inc., and the private investment company Desarrollos Gastronomicos S.A., plan to open the first location in Buenos Aires this year.

Desarrollos Gastronomicos has investors that control the company D&G, which operates Havanna Cafe, a coffee chain with more than 180 locations in Argentina.

Roland Smith, Wendy’s/Arby’s Group president and CEO, said that Wendy’s selected this company for its past success.

“As part of an organization with a proven track record running successful food service operations, our new franchisee has the strength and resources to rapidly build Wendy’s presence in Argentina,” said Mr. Smith in a news release.

Subsidiaries of Wendy’s/Arby’s Group are working with franchisees in regions around the world including the Middle East, North Africa and the Caribbean. It has also reached agreements for future stores in Singapore, Turkey and Russia.
