United Parcel Service CEO David Abney has been re-elected as the chairman of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta, the organization announced after its June 15 board meeting.
Newly elected board members include Jackie Royster, dean of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at Georgia Institute of Technology, along with Gandy Thomas, consul general of Haiti, who will join in an ex officio capacity when he becomes dean (longest-serving member) of the consular corps in July.
The outgoing dean, Irish Consul General Paul Gleeson, was honored at the board meeting for his support of the council.
Clyde Tuggle, chief public affairs and communications officer for Coca-Cola Co., was elected vice-chair of the council, whose executive committee is comprised of Mr. Abney, Mr. Tuggle, Mark Becker, president of Georgia State University; Rich Phillips, dean of J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State, and (founding chairman) Dennis Lockhart, president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.
