The Atlanta World Trade Center opened its new conference center on May 27 with a seminar on the U.S.-Japan Income Tax Treaty, which it hosted with PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLC and the Japan American Society of Georgia.

SunTrust Bank and Portman Management Co. financed renovation of the premises for the conference center, said Patrick Tonui, director of international services at WTC. The enhanced amenities benefit tenants of the SunTrust Building, where the WTC is located, as well as WTC members, he said.

“The World Trade Center is here to support the efforts of Georgia companies doing business internationally as well international companies doing business in Georgia,” he said, “but we are also here to provide services to the businesses located in the SunTrust Building.”

Conference rooms in refurbished Atlanta WTC accommodate groups of six to 104, and each is named for a major financial center where a WTC is located. Rooms are equipped for audio and visual needs, and all are wired for the internet and video conferencing. On-site catering is available in the conference area or at the WTC Club, which accommodates up to 200 people.
