The Savannah Economic Development Authority has released its achievements for 2015, revealing that the World Trade Center under its purview played a key role in its marketing efforts locally and beyond.

The center is part of an international network of more than 300 centers  in 89 countries, including one in Atlanta

While the center operates independently, Savannah has incorporated it into its broader pitch to regional and global investors — taking an approach similar to other cities around the world. Many trade centers globally are massive office buildings where members have physical space, but the model varies in the U.S. In Savannah, the center is housed within the economic development authority.

At this year’s World Trade Centers Association general assembly in the Philippines, Savannah was recognized as one of the two “most active” centers in the world.

Among its achievements were hosting export seminars with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, holding 18 educational programs for more than 350 participants, expanding a nearby foreign trade zone to six additional counties, hosting visits by consular officials and 18 inbound delegations and more.

The center raised nearly $190,000 from its partner organizations and investors throughout the year.
