Atlanta-based WorldPay U.S. has named Germany native and Atlanta resident Michael Wasserfuhr as its new chief financial officer, preparing the company for a continued growth spree that has included major acquisitions and the planned $10 million relocation of its U.S. headquarters to Midtown

Mr. Wasserfuhr, who lives in Atlanta with his wife and two daughters, comes to WorldPay from Ingenico North America, an Atlanta-based French subsidiary also in the payments space making point-of-sale systems and software. He has occupied senior executive positions at German firms Putzmeister America and TUV Rheinland.  

A registered CPA, he holds dual citizenship and an MBA and Ph.D. from Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen

He is also finance director for the American Transaction Processors Coalition, the Atlanta-based industry group representing Georgia’s payment processing companies. Tony Catalfano, WorldPay U.S.’s president and chief executive, is chairman of the coalition. 

WorldPay, a British firm, is ramping up its Atlanta presence, recently announcing plans to double its workforce here over the next four years to 1,200 employees and committing $1 million to a financial technology innovation center at Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center
