One of the latest in a string of acquisitions for Atlanta-based Aprio gives the fast-growing tax and advisory firm a foothold in one of Colombia’s key business hubs.

In absorbing Fort Lauderdale-based Salver & Cook, LLP, Aprio gains 20 new teammates based in South Florida, along with the 12 professionals that make up the firm’s offshore operation in the city of Medellin.

“Salver & Cook has a strong service foundation across international tax consulting and compliance, which aligns with Aprio’s goals to buildout our international service lines and serve clients where they need the support,” said Richard Kopelman, CEO and managing partner at Aprio, in a news release.

Aprio, which has made 20 acquisitions in the last five years, envisions the move as an entree into Central and South America that will drive improved service for clients working in the region.

Aprio prides itself on its international reach, with nearly 40 world languages spoken on staff, including Spanish. Much of the firm’s international business has traditionally focused on Europe and Asia, tracking with trends across the Southeast U.S. But the firm’s national footprint has grown significantly in recent years, and now it serves 1,500 multinational clients from 50 countries with expansions all over the U.S.
