2025 Japan-America Society Annual Dinner Gala Featuring Mayors of Atlanta and Fukuoka

As a part of its summer tradition, the Japan-America Society of Georgia will be celebrating its 45th Anniversary and the 20th Anniversary of the Atlanta-Fukuoka Sister City Relationship at the 2025 Annual Dinner Gala on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

The Annual Dinner Gala will bring together an audience of approximately 280 prominent guests, including executives from Japanese and Georgia-based companies, civic leaders, and representatives from the international community. Among the invited guests are Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Fukuoka Mayor Sōichirō Takashima, who will be joining the JASG in celebration of the special bond the two cities share.

Takashima Sōichirō, Mayor of Fukuoka City

Takashima Sōichirō is the mayor of Fukuoka City, elected in 2010 at the age of 36. Originally from Ōita Prefecture, he began his professional career in television before joining the civil service. Takashima was re-elected in 2014, 2018, and 2022—each time receiving the highest number of votes in the history of Fukuoka City’s mayoral elections—and is now serving his fourth term. He has implemented a variety of policies based on the city’s core management strategy: “Creating a virtuous cycle of urban growth and improved quality of life.”
