Consular Conversations: France Consul General Luncheon

Join Global Atlanta on September 22 for a dynamic conversation with Mr. Vincent Hommeril, Consul General of France in Atlanta.

The Format:
  • A one-on-one conversation with the Global Atlanta editorial team, followed by a moderated audience Q&A

Our Speaker 

Mr. Vincent HOMMERIL has served as the Consul General of France in Atlanta since September 2019. He oversees the relations between France and six southeastern states (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee).

Mr. Vincent Hommeril

Mr. Hommeril was born on August 27, 1959. He is married and has 7 children. He studied Law and Arts (English language and literature) at the University of Haute-Normandie (Rouen, France) and the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne.

He entered the French diplomatic service in April 1985. He first worked in the Consular Affairs division of the Directorate for French Nationals Abroad and Foreigners in France. From summer 1987 to March 1991, he served as the second secretary of the French Embassy in The Hague (Netherlands). From 1991 to summer 1994, he served as First Secretary, Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Colombo (Sri Lanka). From summer 1994 to summer 1997, he held the same position at the French Embassy in Niamey (Niger). Between 1997 and 2000, he occupied various management positions within the Financial and Administrative Direction of the French Foreign Affairs Ministry. From summer 2000 to summer 2004, he served as Second Counselor, Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Manila (Philippines). From summer 2004 to summer 2006, he served as the commercial advisor and deputy of the economic mission of the French Embassy in Warsaw (Poland). He headed the Legal Affairs division of the Ministry’s Building and Logistical Services Department from 2006-2009. From summer 2009 to summer 2012, he served as Second Counselor, Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Bamako (Mali). He served as Consul General of France in Moncton and Halifax from summer 2012 to summer 2016. From summer 2016 to summer 2019, he served as Assistant Director of the Directorate for French Nationals Abroad, in charge of civil conventions and judicial affairs.

Mr. Hommeril received the honor of the Knight of Orange-Nassau (Netherlands) in 1991 and the Knight of National Order of Merit (France) in 2012.

About the Consular Conversations series: 

Sponsored by Miller & Martin PLLC since its inception in 2016, Global Atlanta’s Consular Conversations series consists of monthly public interviews with consuls general in the Southeast United States. Traditionally held as in-person luncheons in Midtown Atlanta, the series transitioned to virtual forums with the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020. In 2021, the series has focused on diplomats based outside of Atlanta who count Georgia as part of their territory.
