Diplomatic Dialogue Reception with Melanie Moltmann, Consul General of Germany in Atlanta

Join ACIR for a Diplomatic Dialogue reception with Melanie Moltmann, Consul General of Germany in Atlanta. After an hour of networking, Consul General Moltmann will discuss the work of the German Consulate, her experiences during her career postings and her observations on global affairs with Mark Pierson, ACIR’s Director of Diplomatic Outreach and Strategic Development. The reception attendees (limited to 30) will then have the opportunity to ask the Consul General questions. Remarks are strictly off-the-record and not recorded.


About Consul General Melanie Moltmann

Melanie Moltmann, Germany’s new Consul General arrived in Atlanta in September 2022. Ms. Moltmann comes to the Southeast U.S. from Berlin, where she served as Deputy Head of Division, Division for Immigration Law, Visa and Immigration Policy.
Ms. Moltmann also has served Deputy Head of Mission and Counselor for Cultural and Press Affairs in the German embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan; Desk Officer, Division for South East Asia and the Pacific in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin; and Deputy Head of Mission, German Embassy Yerevan, Armenia.

A Russian speaker, Ms. Moltmann earned an LLM degree in Moscow between her legal studies and a three-year study program at the Court of Cassation in Schleswig, Germany. She is married and has three sons.

The German Consulate General in Atlanta was opened in 1904 and is the official representation of the German government to the southeast of the United States. The consular district includes Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
