How Do You Solve a Problem Like North Korea?

September 15, 2017 at 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

The Two Koreas.

North Korea is all over the headlines since it launched an intercontinental ballistic missile on July 28. “Fire and fury,” President Trump warned North Korea on August 8. Within three days, $1.5 trillion drained out of stock markets worldwide. Next door, South Korea thrives economically despite constant threats and provocations from the North. South Korea has recorded impressive economic growth year after year – and this while impeaching one president and electing another. Experts agree North Korea has developed both ICBM technology and the ability to place nuclear weapons on those missiles. Add erratic leader Kim Jong-un, and the world is in a new territory where pitfalls and dangers abound.

Join the discussion on the two Koreas. Experts on North and South Korea will lead us through the challenges and opportunities the world must deal with starting today. The registration begins at 11:30am and the luncheon goes from 12 noon to 1:30pm.

The program features:

Hohyun Jang, Minister of Economic Affairs, Embassy of the Republic of Korea

Zach Rosner, Korea Desk Policy Analyst, U.S. State Department

Mark Tokola, Vice President, Korea Economic Institute
