Never soon enough for Marie Laumont, the French chamber's executive director, to start preparing for this year's Nouveau Beaujolais celebration on Nov. 18.
Never soon enough for Marie Laumont, the French chamber’s executive director, to start preparing for this year’s Nouveau Beaujolais celebration on Nov. 18.

November is here, and with it comes multiple chances for Atlantans to get their fix of European wines as they network with business organizations from the region.

For oenophiles interested in more of a continental tour, two of the city’s top two cultural organizations have teamed up to present an international sampling.

The Goethe-Zentrum and the Alliance Francaise on Friday, Nov. 4, will host their 18th annual European Wine Tasting, featuring vintages not only from their home countries of Germany and France, but also from Greece, Italy, Hungary and Switzerland, all of which will be represented by corresponding diplomatic organizations at the event. Sommeliers will be on hand to guide attendees through their selections, some of which are not for sale in the U.S.

The Swedes, for their part, have gone out on their own for this one, hosting what they’re calling a “wine-working” event Wednesday, Nov. 9. The event, open to Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce members and non-members alike, will highlight the chamber’s activities in a more intimate setting at Brookhaven Wines.

Later in the month on Nov. 18, the French community will come together for some one of the oldest Atlanta wine festivals, which celebrates each year’s newest wines.

The 30th annual Beaujolais Nouveau Festival returns to the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel this year to showcase, as always, the reds from the Beaujolais region’s early harvest. Global Atlanta is a media sponsor for the event, which is a fundraiser for Atlanta’s French-American Chamber of Commerce Southeast.

It is the perfect opportunity to toast to the strength of the transatlantic connection between France and the U.S.,” according to the chamber’s promotional materials.

But beyond expressions of goodwill, attendees will also have a chance to experience French gastronomy as prepared by Executive Chef Didier Lailheugue and participate in a silent auction. The chamber expects a total of more than 300 attendees. Learn more here.
