Samuel S. Olens, chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners and the Atlanta Regional Commission, is to be the first speaker of the new “Leadership Luncheon Series” organized by the Turkish American Chamber of Commerce.

He will speak on the topic, “Are Solutions Possible Without Regionalism?” at the chamber’s offices in Midtown on Oct. 6 at noon. 

Mr. Olens also is a candidate for attorney general of Georgia and vice chair of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District.

He has been honored with numerous awards including the 2008 Tom Bradley Leadership Award of the national Association of Regional Councils and the 2007 “Excellence in Public Service Awards” of the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute. For the past five years, he has been selected as one of the “100 Most Influential Georgians” by Georgia Trend magazine.

The chamber offices are located in Two Midtown Plaza, 1349 West Peachtree St.  The cost to attend is $10 for members and students and $15 for non-members.
